I have know Bernadette and her family for as long as I can remember. She is an incredible interior designer with a great eye and lives in a world of creative arts. When Bernadette and her husband, photographer Andrea Pietrangeli, bought Bowler Lane in 2017 I was thrilled to have my art studio at their new venture and later start Bowler Lane Projects with Marie Samuels (which is now just Marie's space and changed to Bowler Lane Works). Bernadette and Andrea have worked tirelessly to make the property shine and have just recently finished their new home which is a piece of art in itself. ONE WHERE DO YOU LIVE AND WHAT IS YOUR RELATIONSHIP TO NEWPORT? 
Newport has always been a part of my life. My parents invested in property here before I was even born. I grew up summering here while living in NYC and Rye, NY as a child. My whole family made a permanent move to Newport when I was in my teens. I love Newport and still call it home today. However, I have the pleasure of frequently traveling back and forth to Italy as it’s my husband’s home country and now my adopted home, as well.

TWO WHAT ARE THREE THINGS YOU CANNOT TRAVEL WITHOUT? 
My husband Andrea, my passport and my toothbrush.

THREE WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT THIS YEAR? 
This year was crazy! I think my biggest achievement was designing and renovating my home with my husband and doing all of the interior design through HEYDT HOME, my interior design firm!

FOUR TELL ME SOMETHING PEOPLE WOULD BE SURPRISED TO HEAR ABOUT YOU? 
One of my passions is foraging for mushrooms. 

FIVE WHAT IS IT THAT BRINGS YOU THE MOST INSPIRATION?
Traveling! I find that no matter where you are in the world, life has the tendency to become routine. Traveling and experiencing new places, people, architecture, food, language etc. just awakens my soul. When I travel, my world opens up to new perspectives and lifestyles allowing me to gather inspiration and hold a deeper understanding for the world we share. 

SIX WHAT IS YOUR GO TO ITEM TO BRING TO A DINNER PARTY? 
Red wine and a desert, preferably dark chocolate and a baguette (if you know, you know).

SEVEN WHAT'S THE PROJECT YOU ARE WORKING ON NOW THAT YOU ARE MOST EXCITED ABOUT?
I am co-owner of BLAST LLC (Bowler Lane Artist, Storage and Traders). It’s a nineteen unit commercial building that offers affordable studio rentals for Newport’s creative community. The studio and workshop spaces are used by photographers, a furniture restorer, a stone carver, an Oriental arts trader, a Production company, an engineer, painters and an Arts Space ‘Bowler Lane Works’ which has really helped put Bowler Lane on the map in Newport by opening its doors and hosting various art openings and events throughout the year. 

EIGHT WHAT IS SOMETHING YOU WOULD LIKE TO RECEIVE AS A GIFT OR WHERE IS A PLACE YOU WANT TO VISIT BUT HAVEN'T? 
Something I wish I could receive as a gift: 
Keys to a terrace apartment in the center of Rome, Italy.
Next stops on my bucket list: Antarctica & Myanmar

Yes! My best friend, Renee Mason, and I have recently launched Heydt + Mason, a full-service Creative Agency that offers branding, styling + photography services for businesses that are looking to enhance their image, products, or interiors for portfolio, social media and general marketing needs. Working with your company’s vision we style on-site to capture ‘that perfect shot’ and fine-tune the details in post to ensure quality content that can be used for your print, digital and social media publications. The marriage of our production team’s state of the art camera + video equipment along with our in-house accessory library allows HEYDT + MASON to tackle a project of any size.

TEN WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PIECE OF CAREER ADVICE? from my The best career advice is from a fortune cookie I opened up several years ago: ‘There is no shame in failure, only in quitting.’
