Lives and works in Jupiter, Florida

Born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela by two parents in the arts, with her father a painter from the Basque region and her mother, a gallery owner in Venezuela, Andreina Bates has been surrounded by the art world her entire life. Always curious, Bates was drawn to a career as an industrial engineer. “There are a lot of parallels between science and arts,” the artist notes, “and when I paint I feel like both sides of my brain are in perfect harmony.” Her style is most notably her liberal use of color, gestural marks and bold brushstrokes all which evoke a sense of playfulness bringing a smile to the viewer while maintaining a sense of balance and energy in the composition.
