Jef Campion was an artist, activist and fireman. He was a first responder to the fallen towers during the September 11 attacks and remained working there for a month during relief efforts. As an artist he was known for his street art, most notably his depiction of Diane Arbus' famous photograph Child with Toy Hand Grenade in Central Park turned into a vinyl sticker he would alter with paint and word art commenting on the violence of war. Jef Campion suffered from PTSD and took his own life in January of 2014.

In 2008 I was living in Williamsburg, Brooklyn when I came upon a make shift pop up gallery right on Bedford Avenue. I purchased this piece and headed to dinner with it in hand. I love this work, but I am ready to share it.
