Join me for an innovative new workshop, immersive painting conducted over FaceTime or Zoom from my studio to your home. This workshop is meant for all levels of experience and is in a fun and casual virtual environment.
This is a new concept for me as we practice social distancing. It is also how I make my living and lend some sort of normalcy to my new everyday life. My intention is to share the therapeutic benefits of creating while giving you a healthy distraction from the harsh reality we all face. I am hopeful this is a process I can share with many. If you are a creative and want to offer your own workshops I encourage you to use my process and adapt it as your own. After all, we are all in this together.
Dates: Open to do daytime, evening or weekend workshop (1 hour)
Materials: Provided, $75 for each additional kit (for you to have extra or for kids, etc) for your household
Instructor: Kristen Coates
Class Description: I will have an art kit shipped to your home. You can text me at (401) 684-0211 to schedule a time of one hour to FaceTime or Zoom video chat and I will give you instruction on mixing colors, painting and hopefully provide a little virtual human interaction with a healthy dose of creativity! At the end you will have your own painting and perhaps a new practice of painting regularly.
Details: I encourage you to open the paint kit packages outside and discard the cardboard safely. Wipe down all materials before they come in your home. You will need a space with a drop cloth (newspaper, paper bags, old towel all work), clothing you do not mind getting paint on (really you will probably get paint on you), a cup for water that may get pain on it and be unusable for drinking from later.
The start of this workshop will open with a talk about what paints I use and why, a note on color and creating a custom color chart and plan of action for each participant to be successful in creating a piece of hangable work. Using small to medium sized canvases, your choice of inspiration and your newly formulated color chart and paint plan, we will create unique works using acrylic paints and an array of techniques. The materials are yours to keep and hopefully will further your painting practice.
The artist: Kristen Coates is an artist and curator and spends most of her time working between her gallery and studio in Newport, Rhode Island.
Fine Print: Workshops are final sale, non-refundable, non-transferable and not redeemable for cash or credit of any kind. Due to the amazing response I am currently booking new sign ups in late April and early May. Thank you!!
Let's keep in touch! XO Kristen
