Digest = me + a possible glass of wine + reflection the previous weeks ongoings and a glimpse into future happenings. You're Welcome.

It’s that time of year where I start doing a lot of old, weird things for the garden. Soaking banana peels in water to add to beds. Laying wire over the tulip bulbs. Managing pots of spent coffee grounds to be steeped into the hydrangeas. Keeping Mabel from all the mischief she seems to magically find no matter how diligent we are!

Our Navy House Garden

I’m not entirely sure all the efforts make a difference, but it does alleviate my unwavering and very intense urge to coax spring along out of the ground. Unlike spring cleaning, I love the garden work - maybe because I can really see the benefits in a few short weeks and there's something about getting your hands into the earth and nurturing your surroundings for the next season to come.

One very well may lead to the other, but I’ve been wildly inspired and painting nearly every day. New work, new commissions and even new series. It’s been delightful mixing up so much color and dreaming in brushstrokes. Anything to minimize the nonstop recent headline news - If you’re feeling particularly overwhelmed these days, I highly recommend Mrs. Dow Jones newsletter for the occasional dose of financial notes in a non alarming, very practical email… and dare I say with a note of positivity! Or perhaps the daily musings of Hugo Hamlet are more your speed. I find him wonderfully delightful.

I’ve been channeling all of my energy toward several projects happening in the coming weeks. Something I am sharing now - this is all a bit beta in that I’m still figuring things out, but if you’re interested in connecting in a more meaningful way, I’ve created a Substack. It’s certainly a work in progress, but the intention is to have it really feel like an extension of visiting the gallery - get inspired, learn a bit about art and design and have access to a growing library of ideas from yours truly. It’s been a little chaotic maintaining both the journal on my site and the Substack so I will be migrating to the larger platform over time and phasing out my blog entirely in hopes of being able to host online events, share voice notes about fresh concepts and even bring my upcoming podcast series to life. Substack is really a better platform for being able to truly share my corner of the world when you can’t be there in person! I hope you will check it out. (thank you to everyone that reached out to get a preview -there was such an amazing response I realize I just need to send my work in progress out now to my people here!).

Something else I'm excited to share - Save the date: April 25 I will be hosting a live auction online to benefit the Boys & Girls Club Newport. I have a special surprise, but think new works from Forgotten Island, never-before-shown art from my archives and a few new pieces. You are not going to want to miss this wild ride of an auction -it’s surely to be an exciting evening!

In the last few weeks I’ve received a lot of emails from clients and potential clients wondering if they might be bothering me about commissions or working together. I realize I never really articulated on my site what it is that I do offer so I can see if you were looking beyond buying a ready made piece off the wall of the gallery there might be a little intimidation - so let’s get rid of that ! Here’s a very small selection of what I do in my creative business and I am always looking to see if a new project or collaborative idea is a good fit so please do reach out!

If you're looking for a delightful spring pick me up, I can't say enough wonderful things about Grapes & Gourmet (Jamestown) Wine of The Month Club. I picked up our trio of red, white and rosé and was immediately inspired to make a lively seasonal dinner to compliment. The thoughtfulness that went into the descriptions was lovely and Michael and I felt like we had a little education on what we were drinking. I think this is part of slow living we love so much if we're only reminded to take the time. Here's your reminder friends XO

Happy weekend from our family to yours!
