The Sunday Night Digest = me + a possible glass of wine + reflection on the previous weeks ongoings and a glimpse into happenings next week. You're Welcome.

We are all in this thing together

Typically most of my family heads to the home of Uncle Bill and Uncle Frank for family holiday gatherings. We let the attending dogs bark at one another (Sofia is quite possessive of her uncles and their attention!), have a few glasses of bubbly and sit down for a dinner that lasts most of the day until well after dark and usually ends with a little too much homemade limoncello. While we always drive over, we always uber home. My aunts and uncles poke fun at one another and I get to know my cousins and their significant others more with each passing year. Today while we all are practicing social distancing, we enjoyed Easter over Zoom that really was like being altogether. If you have the chance to video chat with friends and family I highly recommend it. Later Michael and I had a sweet feast of our own at home with the help of some of our friends including The Floral Reserve, Grapes and Gourmet, Isis Cakes, Bottega Bocconi, Bellevue Wine & Spirits and Cottage and Garden. I can't tell you how wonderful it has been to be so well supported by so many friends, clients and other local businesses. It feels incredibly important to continue to pay it forward and keep Newport going as best we can until we can all be together again.

This week has been so beautiful. Thank you to everyone placing orders (and being incredibly patient while I get them out to you) and sharing images of your home sanctuaries. From flowers and hand soap, to paint kits and artwork, it has been amazing to see what brings you comfort and perhaps a small bit of joy these days (still more to shop here). I have resisted merchandising the store with new inventory because it's a little depressing to know it will all sit unseen by everyone except me. But perhaps the better approach is to hang some new work, redo the window display and photograph for all of you to see. I really do miss you all at the store, but maybe I can do a little better at bringing the store to you at home virtually!

A bittersweet moment for me this week as I parted ways with my beloved Belafonte, a houseboat I restored over the better part of the last decade here in Newport. As I shift my focus to continue developing my business and work as a painter, it seemed to be the absolute right time to share the love of this vessel with new owners Kendra and John. I think we will see great things from these two and the Belafonte!

Happy weekend from our family to yours
Much love XO Kristen
